Creative Writing in Asia Today





'Ideas and Realities: Creative Writing in Asia Today' is APWT's ninth annual international gathering. 

This year the main two-day conference, on Friday 25th and Saturday 26 November, is hosted this year by the School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen Southern Guangzhou Campus.


Additional readings will be held off campus in Guangzhou immediately before the conference, on the evening of Thursday 24 November (at the Kui Yuan Café Gallery in the historic Yuexiu District), and on the Saturday evening at an off-campus arts collective (Loft 345). Additional readings are in Hong Kong (Orange Peel, Central) on the evening of Sunday 27 November and in Macau (at the Portuguese Bookshop) on the evening of Monday 28 November.

The keynote speakers this year are Nicholas Jose, Qaisra Shahraz, Robin Hemley, and Linda Jaivin. Other special sessions are offered with Benjamin Law and Sholeh Wolpé

APWT seeks to stimulate discussion that engages our audience. Academic papers will be considered for publication in special issue of TEXT: Journal of Writing and Writing Courses, an international electronic refereed journal published twice yearly.

All participants must secure their own funding (including airfare, China visa, accommodation and conference fee).
