Robin Hemley

Robin Hemley is the author of eleven books of nonfiction and fiction and the winner of many awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, The Nelson Algren Award for Fiction from The Chicago Tribune, The Story Magazine Humor Prize, an Independent Press Book Award, three Pushcart Prizes in fiction and nonfiction, and many others. He has been widely anthologized and has published his work in such places as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, New York Magazine, and many of the finest literary magazines in the U.S, as well as a popular column on the Philippines, 'Dispatches from Manila', on McSweeney's Internet Tendency. Robin is the former Director of The Nonfiction Writing Program at The University of Iowa. He is currently the Director of the Writing Program, Writer-in-Residence, and Professor of Humanities at Yale-NUS College in Singapore as well as Professor Emeritus at The University of Iowa and Associated Faculty of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He has won many awards for his writing and has taught workshops the world over, including such locales as Australia, The Philippines, Fiji, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, France, Slovenia, Greece, Canada, Bali, the U.K., Cuba, Croatia, and elsewhere. He is a director of APWT.
