Monica Macansantos

Monica Macansantos was a James A. Michener Fellow for Fiction at the University of Texas, where she earned her MFA in Writing. Her work appears in U.S. literary journals such as Day One, The Masters Review, Five Quarterly, The Fictioneer, Thin Noon Journal, Shirley, Your Impossible Voice, TAYO, and in magazines in the Philippines such as The Philippines Free Press. Her nonfiction has been recognized as Notable in The Best American Essays 2016, edited by Jonathan Franzen, and her fiction has been recognized as a Glimmer Train Fiction Open Finalist. She has been awarded residencies at Hedgebrook in Washington State and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska. She is currently a PhD student in Creative Writing at the Victoria University of Wellington’s International Institute of Modern Letters, where she was awarded a Doctoral Scholarship to work on her first novel. Her literary agent is Kerry D'Agostino of Curtis Brown, Ltd. in New York City.
