Menka Shivdasani

Menka Shivdasani is a Mumbai-based writer with three collections of poetry - Nirvana at Ten Rupees, Stet and Safe House. She is also co-translator of Freedom and Fissures, an anthology of Sindhi Partition poetry, published by Sahitya Akademi in 1998 and editor of two online anthologies of contemporary Indian poetry for the American ezine www.bigbridge.org. She has edited an anthology of women's writing for SPARROW, which was launched at the AP Writers conference in Singapore in 2014. In 1986, she played a key role in setting up the Poetry Circle in Mumbai. Menka’s poems have appeared in several anthologies and literary journals, in India and elsewhere, and a poem by her has also been included in the 2012 English textbook for Second Year Bachelor of Arts (SYBA) students. As coordinator for the Mumbai chapter of the global movement, 100 Thousand Poets for Change, she curates an annual four-day festival of poetry at a leading bookstore in Mumbai.
