On returning to her native Australia after 15 years in Asia and the UK, Jane founded Asia Pacific Writers & Translators (APWT) in 2005. She ran the association without pay until July 2017, when a paid administrator was appointed. She holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, where she also worked for the New Writing Partnership (now the Writers Centre Norwich). Her short stories have one prizes, been published and broadcast in many countries, including Ireland (where she won the Fish Publishing Prize), the UK (BBC World Service short stories), Australia and Asia. She has taught Creative Writing in universities in Australia and Hong Kong and has run her Just Write course in many countries. In 2001 she founded with Nury Vittachi the Hong Kong International Literary, Asia's first international literary festival with a focus of writing from and about Asia.
