France Meyer

Ms Meyer grew up in Morocco, and studied in France and later in Cairo. She was awarded a scholarship at the Institut Français du Proche Orient in Damascus where she lived for two years. She is a professional literary translator of Modern Arabic Literature and has translated into French many articles and 16 novels, seven of them by Egyptian writer and Nobel Prize Laureate Naguib Mahfouz. Ms Meyer has worked in collaboration with the Institut du Monde Arabe and is currently a translator and reviewer of Modern Arabic literature for several major French Publishing Houses (Actes Sud, Phébus, Albin Michel). Her latest translation of Abdul Rahman Mounif "Villes de Sel" ("Cities of Salt") was published in Octobre 2013 by Actes Sud. She is a Lecturer in Arabic at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies, at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.
